I was sleeping one night, it was raining. The ceiling were giving dripping sounds. The cold was piercing. The leaves outside rustled for shelter themselves. The shadow of the tree in the next compound looked like a demon each time lightning visited the earth. Even tho empty hen’s network was bad, I wanted to go online still…and then suddenly, somebody say suddenly; I heard—my son, my son 😂
It’s a lie. I didn’t hear any my son, my son😂let’s begin the story proper😋

It was during the pandemic in 2020. The world had taken a pause without our permission. I spent my time mostly at our church office. I remember shooting my first series of videos with my friend’s Samsung phone.
The camera quality was lit. I was using an iTel S15 at the time so I felt it couldn’t shoot proper videos. But after a while of using my friend’s phone and he started giving an attitude anytime I wanted to use it; I decided to use my iTel S15 like that. That was how the journey started.
I still believe that the pandemic helped a lot of young people find purpose. It started off as uncertain, then boring, then it opened up a lot of us to the opportunities in online courses, personal branding, small business, social media interactions and how that the world is a village; how that we are more connected than we think.
My first week on Instagram, I had followed some amazing young minds doing great stuff like Dimeji Ajegbile, Salem King and Blessing Abeng. I began to glean from their well and how they navigated life as young adults.
I remember spending hours just watching their videos and then that push to create content and distribute my truth began to spark in me daily.
I’m sharing this journey with you because regardless of the path you choose to tow this year, your motive and strategies would have to be set right.
The first thing I did was to network and be connected. A lot of young people are isolated. The idea of building in secret is good but it also has an extreme. Many content creators are engulfed in their own world. We dread community because it exposes us to others. But it’s a beautiful thing.
When starting out, you’d have to find like minds, pathfinders in your industry that you would learn and draw from for your own path to find expression.
50Cent was in an interview one time and was asked, Why isn’t Eminem following you back on Instagram? 50Cent said, I don’t need him to follow me back, he is the best rapper in the world, I should follow him and learn from him and be updated on what he is doing per time. Now that’s a focused follower.
Your uniqueness is an amazing contribution to the world but collaboration and community are master keys for success.
Second thing that helped me and still does is giving value. The internet has become like a cocaine hub where people just come to get high on comedy, gossip and cruise, then they go back to their doings.
I was intentional about the kind of contents I wanted to create. I had envisioned my page to be a university that someone comes to and you’d be blown away by such level of depth. It’s intentional.
Value also means being aware of those following your work, or your customers and then finding ways to serve them better. You can’t give what you don’t have.
I’m not a pipe that isn’t wet with the water that passes through it. I am also a follower of my work. I’m transformed by the depth I share. I value my followers so much that I won’t sell crap to them. I celebrate my people.
The third thing that has helped my journey is Engagement. I am connected to all that follow my work. This is why small businesses grow fast, you literally know all your customers, that’s an advantage.
It was through engaging with one of my followers that I found out about the concept of One Restaurant, Different Dishes.
As a multipotentialite, it’s easy to be lost in self and not know exactly how to give value to those that follow your work. My Instagram account became one restaurant, and I started serving different dishes. I wasn’t boxed anymore. I explored my acting skills, relationship with God, writing skills and more, all on the same page.
You can’t lose touch with friends and expect to be followed.
Lastly, I see my Instagram page as a platform for others, not just me. I’m not stingy with greatness. I allow others bask in the results of my growth. It was this mindset that made me work with brands.
This was also the same time the name KingMaker sufficed. I have been given a voice and I can let the right people use it. I became a middle man between my audience and those that have value in store for them.
This is just the beginning of this journey. This year, we go over and beyond.
When someone asked me, how did you get your ambassadorial deal with LandXpress; I replied, it was 2years of work.
I’m saying this because even with all the right strategies, if you don’t stay consistent then it doesn’t make sense.
See you at the top.
